Slip sts to other end of needle.

Using 6mm needles and C double,
cast on 7 sts.
Work 2 rows stocking st.
Inc one st at each end of next
row and foil alt row .

Cast off, leaving a 20cm end.
TO MAKE UP
Sew cast-on and cast-off edges
of Gusset together. Join Gusset
to Back and Front pieces, adding
cushion insert before completing
seams. Sew i-cord trim around
gusset seams (see pic, page
54).
Using the 20cm
end,
run a gathering thread around
each button. Cut 2 circles from
cardboard, each 3.5cm diameter.
Place cardboard circle in each
knitted button and gently pull
up end to draw up and cover
cardboard. Fasten off securely.
Using yarn double, attach first
button to centre of cushion, then
stitch through cushion to other
side and attach second button.
Ensure both buttons are attached
securely and sit snugly against the
cushion to create an indentation.

Using 12mm circular needle and
yarn double, cast on 122 sts.

measures 1 50cm from beg,

Cast off loosely.
TO MAKE UP
Do not press. Wind yarn around
a piece of cardboard 16cm wide,
then cut along one edge. Using
crochet hook and 4 strands of
yarn for each fringe, attach a
fringe evenly along cast-on and
cast-off edges of Throw (see
Garter Stitch Throw and Cushion
Fringing Diagram, below). Trim
fringe to a length of 1 5cm.
Cushion
Using 12mm needles and yarn
double, cast on 38 sts.
Work in garter st (1 st row is wrong
side) until work measures 80cm
(slightly stretched) from beg,
working last row on wrong side.
Cast off.
TO MAKE UP
Fold work in half lengthways and
join side seams, using mattress
stitch (see page 208). Place
cushion insert inside and close
remaining seam. Wind yarn
around a piece of cardboard
16cm wide, then cut along one
edge. Using a crochet hook and
8 strands of yarn for each corner
tassel, attach a tassel to each
corner of cushion. Trim tassels
to a length of 15cm.

4th and foil alt rows: Rib to end.
5th row: Rib 48, turn.
7th row: Rib 46, turn.
Cont working 2 sts fewer in every
alt row until the row ‘Rib 22, turn’
has been worked.
Next row (wrong side): Rib
